Robert C. Freeman

Biography

Robert C. Freeman concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning and administration.  In these practice areas, Robert guides clients through the complexities of creating a customized estate plan unique to each client’s specific circumstances and needs.  Robert has advised clients on matters of Wills, Trusts, Health Care Proxies, Powers of Attorney, guardianship proceedings, as well as navigating clients through the complexity of New York State’s probate process.  He has quickly become known in the Western New York legal community as a go-to problem solver with a talent for finding creative solutions to challenging circumstances.  In 2023, Robert was named by Buffalo Business First as a “30 Under 30” in recognition of his professional accomplishments and community involvement.

Robert commenced his practice as an associate focusing on residential and commercial real estate law.  In this field, Robert has represented purchasers, sellers, and commercial lenders through the entirety of the closing process.  From the initial contract preparation and review to the examination of title, and finally to the closing itself, Robert has extensive experience in representing first-time and repeat homebuyers through, what can be, an arduous closing journey.

Robert has carried his unique ability to work confidently with clients in challenging situations to the field of estate administration.  Whether it is acquiring Letters Testamentary or Administration from the Surrogate Court, negotiating with creditors, transferring business ownership and corporate control out of an estate, or anything else in between, Robert’s unique practice style combines a solid understanding of the law with the sensitivity needed to assist families during a difficult time.

Robert’s knowledge of the Probate process informs his approach to estate planning.  Robert works with clients to advise them on the best approach toward protecting their financial assets in a way that is open and easy to understand.  He realizes that estate planning is more than just document drafting.  It is about providing clients the peace of mind that loved ones are protected in catastrophic life events, and that a client’s tangible and intangible legacy is passed on for generations to come.

Outside of work, Robert is heavily involved with various civic and community organizations.
